One Room Challenge, Week 3

Well here we are already, at week three of the One Room Challenge. If you are visiting for the first time, I am transforming my mudroom into a pretty and functional space. You can start at the beginning, here

This week flew by. The progress on my wall treatment is slow and steady. Vinney and his crew are here painting away. Since outdoor painting season has begun, I won't let him leave until he has painted a few other rooms for me, too.

Finding the perfect pillow(s) for my bench was becoming an impossible task....definitely a version of the Three Bears...too small, too big....and noting was just right.

I decided to go custom with a Dash & Albert rug fabricated into a pillow. I am working with my favorite pillow designer and home stager, Leslie. You may remember that Leslie made the beautiful pillows in my family room. I love working with her because she is always up for whatever crazy ideas that come to mind.

I am using one of these rugs.

I also wanted a ceramic garden stool in my mudroom. Lamps Plus has an amazing selection and was kind enough to provide me with one. I think this was the toughest decision, to date. I could not believe the selection. Here are some of my favorites that are available.

Do you have a favorite? The one I picked is even more beautiful in person.

That's it for this week, now let's go see what the other's accomplished. I saw a slab of marble and a few other goodies on Instagram #OneRoomChallenge.

And I'll see you back here tomorrow for the Linking Event

One Room Challenge Linking Event, Round 2...Week 2

Well Hello, and welcome back to the second week of the One Room Challenge Linking Event. This is the where you can show off your room progress over six weeks.

It took me quite a few days, but I am happy to say that I have visited every single blog from the previous week. The talent and inspiration from this group is so impressive. I hope you are all feeling the excitement and motivation that you are generating.

Please remember to put a link back to this post so that everyone can gain encouragement and recognition with their rooms. Now let's see how your week went.

I hope you will join me in seeing all this talent in action.

One Room Challenge, Week 2

Hello, and welcome back. This is the second week of the One Room Challenge. I am transforming my mudroom into a functional and pretty space. You can start at the beginning, here

This week was all about the wall treatment. I decided to have Joe and Mike fabricate the entire wall while I supervised. Mike doesn't hate me as much as he did before....I think it is because he knows I'm moving.

The top board is a 1 x 6 made of real wood. The remainder of the treatment is MDF. This board was set at a 60" height.

I had the difference split for the next two horizontal rows of 4.5" wide MDF. The bottom piece is wider to keep the same reveal

I decided that a simple board and batten treatment would be best for the mudroom. Deciding on the vertical spacing took a few tries.....yeah, they are sick of me.

Here is the finished treatment. It was no accident that the electrical outlets were not in the way.

Of course each corner was not the same :-/ so I just went with what looked right.

I'll do the prep work and then call in my painter, Vinney, to give it a professional finish. Hopefully that will happen this week. Once the room is painted, I plan on having these hooks installed.

That's all I have this week, now let's go see what everyone else has accomplished.

Blue and White High Point Market

It's Blue and White Bash day over at The Pink Pagoda.

I thought it would be fun to share blue and white Instagram pictures from High Point Market attendees.

So much eye candy all in one place. You can find these images and more like them on Instagram using hashtag #hpmkt.

And now I need to go work on my mudroom for the One Room Challenge. See you Wednesday with an update.

One Room Challenge, Week 1

Hello, and welcome. This is the first week of the One Room Challenge. If you are not familiar with the challenge, it's a room makeover event where I challenge 20 home-design bloggers to make over a space and show the process over six weeks.

There will be a lot of great information, inspiration, and definitely some laughs along the way. I hope you check back each week to see our progress. And if this seems like fun, you can play along and link your room up every Thursday.

Here we go......If you are new to my blog, thank you for dropping by. Since we are moving to Florida this summer, I have one area of my home that must have a makeover before I list this place.

My mudroom, I know I am lucky enough to have a mudroom, but dumb enough not to have finished it for my family.

We don't crate Buster (our dog) anymore, and use it as a place for junk to pile up.

The floor has radiant heat, so winter coats and boots dry faster when left on the ground......that's my story, and I'm sticking to it.

Who was I kidding? That bulletin board has never functioned the way that it should.

All that closet space, and nothing gets hung up or put away.

Alright, you get the idea.....it's hardly functioning as it should, and looks really ugly!

Here are my BIG plans for my small space. This wall needs a treatment, some custom art, and definitely hooks.

This is the art from my last One Room Challenge, available here. New pieces are in the works and I have no idea what Jennifer is creating.

I'm thinking a version of this room would be great.
