One Room Challenge Crazy!
By now, I'm sure you have probably seen the list of talented women in the next round of the One Room Challenge. I am humbled and honored that they have agreed to participate in this crazy six week event.
I hope you will come back every Wednesday to watch them transform their rooms. It's not too late to consider playing along and jumping in on Thursday's. You never know who's watching or what can come of it.
Happy Weekend!
One Room Challenge Review
Wow, it is so nice to read about all of the excitement and anticipation for the One Room Challenge. I have received quite a few emails, so I would like to give a quick review for anyone who may be joining in for the first time.
Let's start with the logo. The purpose of the logo is to help guide the readers to your room. Many people will come by and visit you on a day when your room may not be on your front page. You can place this logo on your sidebar (treat it like an image) and link it to your post, then readers can click on it and get directed to your room. Each week you can edit your original post to include updates. Here is an example.
Just copy it and place this on your blog. I'm keeping it small so you won't have to resize it.
You have six weeks to finish your room. We want to see your progress and encourage you along. Here is the posting schedule and a suggested guideline of posting topics to help keep you on track.
April 10 - What did you accomplish or learn?
April 17 - Did you score any amazing finds or have a cool DIY you want to share?
April 24 - Are you still on track? Did you modify your plans? Week 4 is hard!
May 8 - You made it. Even if you are not totally finished, you are further than you were six weeks ago.
Did you notice that you actually have two more weeks before you need to start showing some results? You can do this!
I hope to see all of your rooms on Thursday, April 3rd. Now go tell your friends because it really is more fun when you have people encouraging you.
Rug Layers
Is it Monday, already? It feels like the weekends are flying by. I know many of you are on Spring Break, but we are late to that party. My kids are not off of school until late April, and we lost a few of the days due to the excessive snow days.
Of course that gives me more time to poke around online. Although I have no idea where I will be living six months from now, I may need to gamble and pick up one of these beautiful Flat Weave rugs. The prices are fantastic.
I want to have them all over my home.....inside and out.

Alright, let's hit the week hard and get a lot accomplished....or not.
Here's some fun news, many of your favorite bloggers may be posting the One Room Challenge List of Participants. I hope you join in on the fun.
Domino & Polyvore
Have you seen the Spring issue of Domino? I just subscribed to the iPad version and it is full of pretty rooms and great information. The entire magazine is fantastic and I wanted to share a couple of my favorite features.
Jamie Mears, the founder of Furbish Studio, created this adorable teen bedroom.
Nick Olsen decorates a New York City apartment. He also gives some great Color Theory advice.
I am dying for a pair of these stunning framed de Gournay panels.

And if you still haven't entered The Pink Pagoda's Project Decorate Contest....you have two days left. I have been entering one board per day. Here is my latest entry.
This weekend, I will be testing out my new steam cleaner. I know.... you're jealous. What will you be doing?

One Room Challenge Linking Info
Is anyone else feeling so much happier now that the days are longer and two degrees warmer? This is my favorite time of the year....not Spring...
One Room Challenge Linking Event Time!
Two weeks from tomorrow is the start of the ORC Linking Event. For six consecutive Wednesday's, nineteen professional Interior Design oriented bloggers (and I) will transform one room from start to finish updating you on our progress. Each Thursday, you can join in on the fun and play along. Two of the linking participants from the last round will be joining the Wednesday group.
How do you join in? It's easy, select a room (it doesn't have to be in your home) and commit to transforming it over the six weeks. Each Thursday, pop over and link up your post so we can follow you with your progress.
If you would like, you can grab the above button and place it on your sidebar. You can link that to your ORC post so whenever anyone comes to visit you, they can easily find your project.
Trust me, this is a whole lot of fun, and even more fun when you bring along a friend. So tell your readers you will be joining in and let your family know that you won't be making dinner for the six weeks.....well at least I probably won't....actually, I hardly do now.
And on another note, here is my most recent room that I have entered into The Pink Pagoda's Project Decorate contest. If you haven't entered yet, you should. You could win a $500 gift certificate to Horchow. This board will not be winning, for sure! Do you recognize the room?

I borrowed most of it, with a few additions and subtractions. My goal was to enter a room-a-day. I didn't say anything about how I would accomplish that. #PolyvorePressure

A Lovely Reader, A Leprechaun and A Contest
Hello my lovely readers. Did everyone have a great weekend? Saturday was sunny and beautiful around here.....we won't talk about the Sunday. As for today, so sorry people to the South of me....you have snow. Very rarely, are we in the bragging position.
This is a funny small-world story. Do you remember when I wrote about this beach house? Well, I received an email from one of my readers.....and.....her.....home.....is across the street from the one I featured. Now how crazy is that? AND.....it's for sale, too. I am beginning to wonder if everyone is trying to get off the island (Gilligan's Island joke). She told me that her son made this beautiful sign that greets you when you enter.
You can see this pretty home, here.
So today is St. Patrick's Day. I would not be fulfilling my obligatory blogging duties if I did not put something green on my blog for you.
Since I have been in a Spring shopping mood.....
And they must be colored blind, because you won't believe what they are putting in the sale....hint, it doesn't look green to me, but I'll take it!
My Polyvore contest ended last night. Once the Polyvore powers inform me on how I go about picking a winner.....I will let you know.
Today, Jennifer is being featured on Polyvore and her contest is a chance to win a $500 gift certificate to Horchow. You can enter her contest, here. I would love to win this. Since Jennifer entered a board a day in my contest, I am going to try and do the same. You can enter as often as you like.
Here is my first entry.

If you do enter the contest, then you may also want to join a few Polyvore groups so more people can see your designs. Here are three Polyvore groups I highly recommend :)
Have a lovely green day!
