One Room Challenge Participating Information

It has been so fun to see some of the #oneroomchallenge posts on Instagram. I really have no idea who will be joining in on Thursday's, but I can promise you....it will be fun.

Some of you are very familiar with the process, while others may not be. If you already know the drill, grab your logo, and I look forward to seeing you this Thursday. If this is your first time joining in, you may want to read these tips.

You have six Thursday posts to complete your room transformation. For some of you technical people, it is actually five weeks......unless you have already started. Each Thursday, after you have published your room transformation update, come by and link up your progress (a direct link to your post is best).

Many readers and stalkers will visit you on a day other than Thursday. By placing this logo on your site, and linking it to your room, you will be able to help guide the traffic to your One Room Challenge™ project.

Just in case you are still feeling a little overwhelmed, here is the posting schedule with sample topics you can use or replace:

Thursdays, April 2nd (week 1) - Introduce your space, and tell us your plan.

Thursday, April 9th (week 2) - Show us your progress. What have you accomplished?

Thursday, April 16th (week 3) - Have you encountered any setbacks? Any happy accidents?

Thursday, April 23rd (week 4) - How's it going? Week 4 is the hardest!

Thursday, April 30th (week 5) - Did you revise your plan? Hang in there, you can do it.

Thursday, May 7th (week 6) - The Finale - It's all about the pictures.

And just like that, you have a finished, or almost finished, or at least more than half way, or at least started.......room transformation!

We are all here to support one another. This will never be a competition. Jump in, and have fun.

I hope to see you on Thursday, April 2nd.

House Tour - Before - Kitchen & Baths

Hello! I am happy to report that demolition is in full swing at my future home. I wanted to share the before shots with you. During the home inspection, I tried to document the 80's interior.

Let's start with the master bath.

The second bathroom

The kitchen

Here's a refresher of the plan. Next time, I'll share the bedrooms. Hang onto your vintage hats, it get's better....or I should say, more dated.

One Room Challenge™ Spring Reminder!

I am starting to get so excited for the Spring 2015 One Room Challenge™. I have received lots of emails from people wanting to know when the next one starts. In just three and a half short weeks....the designing mayhem will begin.

This is open to everyone, although you do need a blog to link up.  Here's a reminder of the fabulousness from the FALL 2014 event.

The SB's have been thinking out loud about which room they will be transforming. I'm voting for anything that will include this.

Lots of the finished rooms and designers have been featured all over the net. Here are just a few of those features form passed challenges;

Melissa caught the eye of Good Housekeeping with her pantry makeover

Caitlin found herself in the San Francisco Chronicles with her shed transformation

Vanessa had her kitchen featured on Style Me Pretty Living and Domaine.

It really is a lot of fun. Check out #oneroomchallenge on Instagram, and see for yourself.

Will you be joining in? You can find all the information you need, here.

Field Trip - Arhaus

Hello March! Hang in there my cold weather friends, winter really is almost over. And if you live in Boston, I'm sorry...but congratulations on breaking your all time snowfall record?!

On Saturday, I decided to take a break from the overwhelming world of cabinet shopping and tile decisions. It's funny how you think you know exactly what you want...and then, you just can't make the commitment....or at least, I can't. You too?

I have driven by the Arhaus store in Naples, dozens of times. Don't you love the glass atrium look?

You know I love a good planter, and these are quite stunning.

The store is filled with one of a kind objects collected from around the globe.

There are also manufactured pieces that meet their high standards of natural hardwoods and organic cotton. Can you tell that I spoke with the friendly salespeople? It's February, in Florida...everyone is sooo happy.

I knew I should not have gone in....I want this table, and I don't even know where my walls will end up. Can you hear it? It's whispering....put your feet up.

This one is for all the chandy lovers.

And for all the chair lovers

This would be the chair that everyone would fight over to sit in... it is so comfortable. I might come back for a pair of these.

It wasn't my intention to show you all the photos I took...but I couldn't leave out the outdoor furniture. Believe it or not, even with the snow, now is the time for patio planning.

If you live in Florida, the new Sarasota store will be having a grand opening party this month. I heard they will be giving away some prizes, or food....or both? I guess you can check with the store to find out the details.

Are you familiar with this Arhaus?

In case you are wondering, I did not receive anything for this post. I just wanted to share.

Here's the Plan

I just received the revised floorplan my architect created, and I can't wait to share it with you.

First, here is the before. You can see how the current kitchen location blocks the flow of the home. The study has an awkward entrance through the master bedroom, few strange angular walls, and no powder room.

Here is the plan. The laundry room moved, and made way for the kitchen. The dining room was eliminated, completely. A powder room was added, and the entrance to the study was reconfigured. The angles were squared off, and the master bedroom square footage was evenly distributed into something that made more sense.

I love this plan. It's exactly how I envisioned living in this home....only, I didn't know it. I wonder what will change when the reality of cost comes into play?
