One Room Challenge - Week 4
Welcome back to the One Room Challenge. This is the fourth week of a six week room makeover challenge. If you are new here, thanks for the visit. You can start the challenge here.
Tomorrow is link up day for those of you playing along.
The weeks are flying by and things are flying around. My week started off super exciting when my Rejuvenation hardware arrived. I chose the Large Oval Latch for the doors, and although I loved the brass, I decided to go with the Burnished Antique finish.
For the drawers I went with the Rejuvenation Plain Bin Pulls in the same Burnished Antique finish.
Let me remind you of what my sad credenza looked like with the dated and tired knobs.
This was the easiest furniture transformation I have ever done.
Isn't it amazing what some new hardware can do? I love how the hardware looks as though it was original to the piece.
I was also able to make a decision on the art above the credenza. I think four large graphic prints will fill the space and cast a beautiful reflection in the mirror on the opposing wall.
And speaking of the mirror on the opposing wall, I can't decide if I should paint the frame around it. Here is a quick mock-up...what do you think? Do you like the frame a color or do you prefer white?
You may have noticed that the sconces have been removed. Those needed a fresh coat of paint, too.
Finally, at the last minute yesterday, this was delivered.
I'm feeling optimistic even though I have a lot more to do.
What Do You Think?
Hello Monday! Was that a full weekend, or just a drive-by? Did it feel like it was one day short? Oh well, I want to know if you have an opinion on exterior home design.
I often wonder what inspires people to combine art and architecture. You know the old dilemma form verses function. I have looked at these homes several times. Each time I notice something different in their design.

| For example, on the right the upper rectangular windows are not the same size as the lower rectangular windows. |

It would have been easy to make the transom windows on the left stay on the same plane as the middle window on the right. Was it deliberate?

I think a different view of this home would make it more understandable. That hillside on the right would probably explain this...or not.

Here are my questions, can you appreciate these designs?
Would you want to live across the street from them?
My feeling is, if they keep their yard looking nice and take in their garbage cans in a timely manner...I will be a happy neighbor.

One Room Challenge Linking Party - Week 3
Hi All, I wanted to give a quick 'Thank You' to Apartment Therapy for featuring my stenciled pumpkin. That was such a nice surprise.
Here we are, the half-way point...can you believe it? This is a really good place to stop and decide which projects should stay in and which one's might need to wait. If you think you can cram it all in, I'm with you. Let's treat this like a College exam...a few sleepless nights...some caffeine...and we won't remember any of it weeks later.
Remember, If you link up, please include a link on your front page letting your readers know where you are today. That way your readers can visit other people as well.
This is so exciting....come with me as we go see what everyone has done.
One Room Challenge, Week 3
Welcome back to the One Room Challenge. This is the third week of a six week room makeover. If you are new here, thanks for the visit. You can start the challenge here.
Tomorrow is link up day for those of you playing along.
For me, week 3 is always the time to assess the situation and decide how realistic my room goals are. As of now, I am still delusional that I will complete all of my projects. The highlight of my week was when this Dash & Albert rug arrived.
I purchased it through Maddie G. Designs. Susie has a 'Cusumer Buying Service' that provides access to "Trade Only" fabric and furnishings. My dog, Buster, is not photbombing the picture. He really thinks this rug is for him....isn't it?
Everything else is still in pieces scattered all over my home....and in a few other States. For my lighting fixture, I knew I wanted to use one that I already had. My stairwell chandelier was lost in that space. I gave it a fresh coat of white paint and just need to reassemble the bells before I call my electrician. And yes, now I need a fixture for my stairwell.
More pieces....I cut my striped fabric into strips
I plan on embellishing some white drapes for a semi-custom look.
Still more pieces....I hacked up a bamboo shade from a big box store. The shade was 60" wide...perfect, but it was also 60" long. The shade will be stationary and I don't need that much of a stack just sitting there. This gave me two for the price of one.

1. Apply Frey Check to every string before cutting.
2. Cut the strings where you applied Frey Check.
3. Turn under and hot glue the hem.
4. Attach the cut portion to a 1 x 2 with hot glue.
5. Two identical shades.
6. Make folds to your desired length.
7. Tape the folds so they hold in place when you flip the shade over.
8. On the back side, move the rings to their new position, top of new fold.
9. Tie the rings so the folds stay in place.
I did have one annoying setback this week. My upholsterer called to say that he was 2 1/2 yards short of fabric for the loveseats...he measured it...this will cost us an additional week.

That's all I have this week. Now let's see how the others are doing. I'm not the only one with a furry friend supervising.

A Winter Retreat
It's Monday, and we are heading into week three of the One Room Challenge. I was on the computer searching for some information and then I got sidetracked by these images. Don't you just hate when that happens?
I have never been shy about my distaste for snow. I can't wait to hopefully never experience it again. That's just me, and I know so many of you don't mind it. In fact, a lot of you told me how you like it....and we're still friends.
Since I have a split personality, I can't help but love these pictures of homes in the winter. I love the look, the suggested warmth from inside, and the comfort food and alcohol I would be enjoying if I lived here.

All of these images make me want to break out the slow-cooker and light a fire.....and then get on a plane to much warmer weather.
How about you?
One Room Challenge Linking Party - Week 2
I wanted to thank all of you for linking up last Thursday. I really enjoyed clicking through everyone's room plans and ideas. It was great to meet so many new {to me} bloggers.
If you did not link up last week, of course you can link up today. The deadline doesn't change so you will need to work a little faster......or not.
Remember, If you link up, please include a link on your front page letting your readers know where you are today. That way your readers can visit other people as well.
Thank you very much for linking up, now let's go see what progress everyone made.
