One Room Challenge, Week 3

Welcome back to the One Room Challenge. This is the third week of a six week room makeover. If you are new here, thanks for the visit. You can start the challenge here

Tomorrow is link up day for those of you playing along.

For me, week 3 is always the time to assess the situation and decide how realistic my room goals are. As of now, I am still delusional that I will complete all of my projects. The highlight of my week was when this Dash & Albert rug arrived.

I purchased it through Maddie G. Designs. Susie has a 'Cusumer Buying Service' that provides access to "Trade Only" fabric and furnishings. My dog, Buster, is not photbombing the picture. He really thinks this rug is for him....isn't it?

Everything else is still in pieces scattered all over my home....and in a few other States. For my lighting fixture, I knew I wanted to use one that I already had. My stairwell chandelier was lost in that space. I gave it a fresh coat of white paint and just need to reassemble the bells before I call my electrician. And yes, now I need a fixture for my stairwell.

More pieces....I cut my striped fabric into strips

I plan on embellishing some white drapes for a semi-custom look.

Still more pieces....I hacked up a bamboo shade from a big box store. The shade was 60" wide...perfect, but it was also 60" long. The shade will be stationary and I don't need that much of a stack just sitting there. This gave me two for the price of one.

1. Apply Frey Check to every string before cutting.
2. Cut the strings where you applied Frey Check.
3. Turn under and hot glue the hem.
4. Attach the cut portion to a 1 x 2 with hot glue.
5. Two identical shades.
6. Make folds to your desired length.
7. Tape the folds so they hold in place when you flip the shade over.
8. On the back side, move the rings to their new position, top of new fold.
9. Tie the rings so the folds stay in place.

I did have one annoying setback this week. My upholsterer called to say that he was 2 1/2 yards short of fabric for the loveseats...he measured it...this will cost us an additional week.

That's all I have this week. Now let's see how the others are doing. I'm not the only one with a furry friend supervising.

**Update, for week 4, go here**
