Mecox Gardens for inspiration

On a recent trip to Florida, yes to escape the AWFUL winter we had, I strolled into Mecox Gardens.

EVERYTHING in the store made my mind race with ideas. However, the most inspiring project idea for myself, was the way everyday plants were displayed.

I'm in the knob know now

This weekend, I brought home a selection of knobs from Anthropologie

They are all beautiful. However, only one of them could make the cut. So, one by one, they auditioned on the piece of furniture. Finally, the perfect choice was made

Sometimes less is more. Actually, none of the "green's" were a match.

Upholstered bed for the tween

As the tween room makeover continues.....here is what started it all

This bedding from Target. Next, came the upholstered headboard. Since I can no longer find the original inspiration photo (it's not lost, it's with the other sock, my library card, and several gift cards together....somewhere), It looked similar to this

I also forget to take before photo's (improving on that one), I purchased a bed on Craigslist that looked similar to this

It had a matching footboard. Painted everything white and upholstered it

One suggestion, a plaid fabric is VERY hard to work with and makes the entire project take WAY too long.

Making color choices from a computer

Look what came today

 

That was fast, and I love it! It does remind me that you can never trust color on the computer. As I have mentioned before, I love on-line shopping, but when it comes to specific color.....it's always a surprise.

Wall Decal for the Tween Room

As part of a room makeover, my tween wanted a wall decal. You know the kind, they are in many stores and on television quite a bit. She wanted this one

so we purchased it here. They custom color any combination you want. It came from China, the stamps on the box were so cool looking, and didn't seem to take all that long. Here is our (when I say "our", I mean me doing all the work and the tween giving it her stamp of approval)  progress so far

 

you will notice that we flipped the image. Not a great idea. This is what makes this one of the most time consuming projects that I have ever done! Check back for the finished project, if I ever finish!

Window Boxes

I am very fortunate to have 2 window boxes on my house. Last spring/summer I did this

What to do this year? I love dark purple in a garden. I'm thinking about this combination

Or, should I keep it all white?
