Raffia Tables

I have been thinking about raffia wrapped tables lately. I love all things tactile and this one looks like it could be a great DIY. Recently, I was in West Elm and saw this one up close.

West Elm
I think the pattern adds more interest to the straight lines of the desk. Tables that have curves are more appealing when it is a solid raffia.

This one is nice with the gold feet added.

Mecox Gardens

I love the nailheads added to this piece.

Century Furniture

You wouldn't need to use real nailheads. Simple thumb tacks would probably work just as well.

Here is a real vintage one. I just love how every curve is covered.

The detail of the raffia is not lost under the lacquer finish.

I think this is my favorite one. It has curves and a touch of gold banding at the bottom.

This one has both high gloss and a raffia top

I love the first one from West Elm! You're right this would be an awesome diy, you go first!

I love that West Elm table, but the one I saw on the floor was already alittle unraveled! Anyone with cats in the house would not want to get one; but covering in lacquer would be best for any application I think!

Wow. great round up! Love these. I think the corners are tricky but as long as you use the campaign corners or nail heads it will look amazing. You have mad DIY skills woman...I can't wait to see what you do.

These are beautiful. I would just worry if the tops would be flat enough as a writing surface. (You know, for those of us who still use a pen and paper from time to time.)

Yes, I do love the look and have thought about how to diy something like this myself. We need more hours in each day or less hours of sleep required - not sure which one is better.

I'm loving them too!! I love the first one...I bet the writing would come out a little bumpy if you use it for a desk no? But other than this LOVE!!

love raffia definitely - anything with the texture of natural grass, wood, I'm all for it. I think it stems from the fact that it reminds me of home (Philippines) where these materials are definite staples in home decor. :-)
