Hi everyone. This week and month have been crazy around here. I won't bore you with all the details, but I am taking a few days off......just from blogging; Motherhood never rests. Apparently there is a certain 8th grade girl.....whom I love more than the entire world....and she is graduating!
I will be back on Monday with my first Lowe's Garden Challenge. Before I go, let me ask you this...how many trips does it take to find the perfect dress? Tell me your shopping stories, it will make me feel better about mine.
I don't remember my 8th grade graduation taking over the entire family....boy have things changed for today's teen. The graduation has not been our major focus....it has been the 8th grade formal dance. Yes, formal....as in a ridicules amount of money (for the second time) on a dress and shoes that will never fit or be appropriate again. There was a formal holiday dance last December. My daughter has grown a couple of inches taller and one shoe size since then.
I won't complain any more because she is totally worth all the effort. I just wish it was casual attire

Get ready baby! The shopping is fun but exhausting ... the right dress, the wrong color. The right color, the wrong fabric, etc., etc.! I have lots of dressing room photos on my cell phone so that the choices can be reviewed before the final decision gets made!! Enjoy every minute ... we have one more 8th grade graduation coming our way!
The last dance my daughter went to it took many trips to find a dress we could agree on. She wanted gaudy or something not really appropriate (too sexy). They don't do 8th grade graduation here but there are several formal dances each year in high school.
I have one in HS now and I'll get to do this all over again 11 years from now!
Have a fun few days! Congrats on the 8th grade graduation...they grow up too fast. We don't have formal dances until high school here...I'm kind of glad!
A formal dance for the 8th grade? Girl, these kids have it made. My emergency go-to spot for a fab, yet inexpensive dress, is Ross or TJ Maxx. Enjoy the time off, and the graduation festivities with your lil one.
I remember shopping for dresses as a kid. Back then I hated shopping so it never took me too long to pick something out. It is amazing how times have changed. Formal for eighth grade? Ridiculous. Have fun and enjoy the time off!
You and I are living the same lives in different states! LOL 2-3 hours just on the shoes for my daughter's recent 8th grade grad...and then for complete irony...they broke upon the first wearing at the dress rehearsal morning of the ceremony....oh the trials and tribs...we all deserve a few days off! :)
Congratulations to your 8th grade sweetie! Enjoy!
Enjoy your mini break and your family. Tell her congrats for me and thanks for the tech help!

Have a fun filled weekend and congrats (ahead of time) on surviving it! My friends and I went to a vintage shop and rented our prom dresses. Although I think there were about six shopping trips before that before we decided what we were doing.
Congratulations to your daughter!! Can you believe how much they change during 8th grade? My
daughter had graduation and dance, too. Their theme was neon and most of them wore neon Nike shorts! That was easy! Enjoy your blogging break!!
Boys are so much easier when it comes to clothes and dances! My 8th grader wore a nice shirt and pants he already had, you gotta love that! When my oldest went to his 1st HS homecoming, no one was home as he got ready, so he had to tie his tie solo. He googled the how to and ended up with a double Windsor knot as big as your fist! Too funny!
Enjoy your time off!
Congratulations to your daughter!! Maybe it's just a regional thing - we didn't have anything like that for our 8th graders....not that I'm complaining :)
