It's All About Him, Today
Today is my son's birthday. My curious boy who loves to play with computer effects. The one that is most like me. He is now a teenager, officially.
He makes me laugh all the time.
We have built so much Lego together over the years, I think he is ready for a lego desk.
On Sunday, he and his dad are going to NASCAR....his favorite.
I hope there is a career path that includes Lego and NASCAR.
Happy Birthday, Baby!
Also, I still have a giveaway going on. And don't forget to start planning your room makeover.
Happy last weekend of Summer.
Modern Home Trends
While perusing the European Home magazines, I spotted a design idea that we should have been able to predict. Maybe you did? With the explosion of white marble everywhere, it should not come as a surprise that marble-like fabric was used to upholster these chairs. I actually like this a lot more than I thought I would.

I still love all the applications of custom photography as wallpaper.

Mixing Architectural Styles
I really love when architects play with details and merge unexpected styles together. This is a beach house, but it could easily blend into the mountains of Colorado. It has its own unique style.
This one feels modern, but also reminds me of an antique farm house.
I love the unexpected arched door with the metal roof on this one. The horizontal fencing is a nice touch, too.
I would expect the inside of this one to be as interesting as the outside. Maybe a pottery studio or an artists loft just beyond the door.

My Kitchen Tour & Giveaway
I am so excited, today. Kim from Savvy Southern Style has invited me to participate in her 'My Favorite Room" feature. I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to show you my kitchen. I have never shown that room, and it is the one I will miss the most when we move.
If you are not familiar with our home story, you can read about it here. I had seven years of planning and dreaming before we actually did our kitchen addition.
I had time to endlessly obsess over every detail. Like this hammered stainless steel sink.
You can see the full tour on Kim's blog.
Before I tell you my giveaway, I won Kim's giveaway.....I know that's funny! I wanted it for my teen. She picked these adorable bracelets.
Obviously matching her iPhone case was a high priority. Thankfully, MsMoozy's Open House has a lot to pick from. She got another bracelet, and a necklace. All of the jewelry is made really well, and 'teen approved'.
And now for my giveaway. You know how much I love a giveaway!!
When we lived in California, I had a hanging pot rack.
I loved it and I loved to decorate it.
I have had this (now vintage) Crate and Barrel copper pot for over 20 years....that makes it vintage, right?
The truth is, I think I may have used it once....more than a decade ago...who can remember?
I think it's really beautiful and it needs a new home. One that will love it and show it off.
You can see it was Made In France. I would love to send it to one of you.
If you would like it, here's how to enter:

On another note, the annual U.S. News College Ranking of the top 100 Colleges in the US (2014) is out. If you live in New Jersey and had the news on at all yesterday, then you heard this over.....and over....and over, again.
Princeton University ranked #1
Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey ranked #69
We talk about colleges all the time around here. So I thought that this might be fun for you to check out. Congratulations to my brother, who continues to hold the most prestigious Undergraduate education in the family. He graduated from UCLA and it ranked #23. I should note that my husband earned an MBA from Saint Mary's College of California and it has a Regional ranking (West) of #11. I'll let them decide how they should view this, knowing them....neither one cares.
