This Old House
I love This Old House. In fact, that is how my interest in DIY began. As a teenager, I would watch episodes and think, "I bet I can do that!" I once heard Steve Thomas, the host, give a speech.
It was so interesting, he knew almost nothing about home renovation before he started with the show. He was actually a shipbuilder and sailor. Apparently, the producers felt that being able to ask questions that viewers were thinking was the most important quality. At the end, he admitted that now he is a DIY-er.
Here are some lovely before & after pictures from the This Old House site
Even though Steve is no longer with the show, it is still a great resource for inspiration!

The Dog
I just love my our dog!
He was a rescue, but truthfully, he rescued us.
During the day, he likes to take a quick ride in the car. The loves going to the bank where they have dog biscuits.
He is mostly a German Short-haired Pointer. I am thinking of getting a piece of artwork in honor of him. Something fun and colorful, like one of these
Do you have a favoritechild pet?

Vintage White House (part 2)
Continuing from yesterday's post.....
I like the paiinting detail on the mouldings, and those fab chairs
That carpet! Painting the backs of the shelving looks great, but I'm afraid of that much color
It's timeless
Love the bamboo chairs
Love the ribbon detail on the white chairs. Is that an elephant in the lower right corner?
Perfect!
Love the pop of color with the orange chairs
What a view
Love the boxwoods
This makes me wonder....what if?
I hope you enjoyed this!

Vintage White House (part 1)
I stumbled across some vintage images of The White House. So much of "back then" could be used today. Based on the year, you can calculate which family lived there.

Wisteria with a twist
This week, I received my Wisteria catalog. I love Wisteria and find the images quite inspiring. However, this one, has my mind wondering...
I love this rug. Or, is it three rugs sewn together?
Yup, three rugs, and the stripes don't even line up. Although, that is obviously the idea. Clever, whimsical, and surely budget friendly?
WRONG $999.00
It's a blanket stitch holding them together. You remember blanket stitch, don't you? If not, I'm sure there is a youtube video explaining it!
So, here is what I am thinking. What if I found three visually interesting runners, and blanket stitched them together? Now that would be budget friendly.
Something like this
Or, something like this (I would probably keep the same color for all three)
