Let's Start Tying it Up

I love all things tactile. I am drawn to textures, surfaces, gloss, shine...anything that has a feel to it. Natural fibers are my favorite....cotton, jute, silk, and wool to be more specific. I thought these were creative ways to bring some texture into a beach house without going overboard {yeah, I said it}.

You will not believe how this one started out. The rope is custom colored...brilliant, I think.

Loud or Quiet?

Although I am not finished with my dining room, I have begun planning for my entry hall. As I have obsessed about on this blog....it is going to be "All White". Hopefully, something like this

House Beautiful

Minus the incredible Ginger Jars (I don't have those). I do have some colorful Asian doors

They should stand out nicely against the semi-gloss white walls that are coming. That leaves the rug. I need one. My question to you is Loud

Or Quiet

The one that got away!!

I was looking at this plum overdyed  patchwork rug from Cost Plus for a long time. I just wasn't sure if the colors would work. I was also waiting for a sale....you know, the "I'll just wait a bit longer" strategy. Well, it looks like I waited just a bit too long....now it's GONE! Not on sale....GONE? I feel like "while you were sleeping"!

This is what is left, the purple one. I know that won't work....although colors do look much different on computer screens. Of course, now that it is gone....IT WAS PERFECT!

When the store opens later today, I will call. Have you ever watched something for a long time....only to lose it?

Vintage White House (part 1)

I stumbled across some vintage images of The White House. So much of "back then" could be used today. Based on the year, you can calculate which family lived there.

Wisteria with a twist

This week, I received my Wisteria catalog. I love Wisteria and find the images quite inspiring. However, this one, has my mind wondering...

I love this rug. Or, is it three rugs sewn together?

Yup, three rugs, and the stripes don't even line up. Although, that is obviously the idea. Clever, whimsical, and surely budget friendly?

WRONG $999.00

It's a blanket stitch holding them together. You remember blanket stitch, don't you? If not, I'm sure there is a youtube video explaining it!

So, here is what I am thinking. What if I found three visually interesting runners, and blanket stitched them together? Now that would be budget friendly.

Something like this

Three of these would run $312

Or, something like this (I would probably keep the same color for all three)

Three of these would run $120.

Do you think it would work?
