It's All About Him, Today

Today is my son's birthday. My curious boy who loves to play with computer effects. The one that is most like me. He is now a teenager, officially.

He makes me laugh all the time.

We have built so much Lego together over the years, I think he is ready for a lego desk.

On Sunday, he and his dad are going to NASCAR....his favorite.

I hope there is a career path that includes Lego and NASCAR.

Happy Birthday, Baby!

Also, I still have a giveaway going on. And don't forget to start planning your room makeover.

Happy last weekend of Summer.

Boys and Cars

My twelve year old son is in desperate need of a full size bed. I have officially been the shortest one in the house for quite some time....unless you count the dog?  I am so fortunate to have men in the home  with no opinion on decorating and details. Because of this, I am feeling guilty for letting my son have a childlike room for far too long.

I was reading Pam's blog the other day, and remember the fantastic makeover she did on her son's room. I will definitely be copying her bed transformation.

Simple Details
The bed will be the easiest part of the transformation. One of the reasons I have procrastinated on his room is because he loves NASCAR!  Look, I don't know how it happened, and somehow it must be my husband's fault. No offense to all of you race car lovers....I can't understand how watching cars drive around a track 500 times is exciting? Then again, I hate all sports equally...except tennis, even though I still never figured out how the scoring goes.

Here are some of the mature boys rooms I like.

Now if I could only figure out how to incorporate this guy into it.
This is Kyle Busch, my son's favorite driver. It's a shame he isn't more attractive....hear me out...I figured since I am the one bringing in the laundry on an almost weekly daily basis, I deserve a little eye candy. Are you with me on this one? Sorry, Kyle...I'm sure you don't read my blog... so no worries.

My daughter and I like this guy.

This is Jimmie Johnson, arch rival to Kyle Busch. Putting an image of Jimmy Johnson in my son's room is like hanging a Red Sox banner on Yankee Stadium.

Maybe it could happen?

Any ideas on how I can decorate around NASCAR while keeping the room mature and not childlike?  Can you figure out a way for me to squeeze Jimmy Johnson into the room?

On the remote chance that my husband stumbled upon my blog today....sorry you accidentally found this. You are going to love your Father's day gift ;).

Father's Day....From My Son

Here is how my 11 year-old son would celebrate Father's day. Breakfast at a pancake house...just "the men".

Dinner at Moe's

....and chocolate chip cheesecake for dessert

This works for me, but I think my daughter might have other plans. Have you made plans for Father's Day, yet?

Ebay & PA

This was a crazy busy weekend. It started with an Ebay auction. I have been on the hunt for a vintage 60's-ish wall sculpture. Maybe something I could put over my bed? I don't need to tell you how hot this stuff is now... I needed to get lucky. My search was "metal wall sculpture" and I did it under "distance nearest first" for sorting. That way, I might find something close to my home.

I got lucky! I found this with "Pick-up Only" in the description.

It looks to me, like a {similar} mirror image of this one

Rugs seamed together
RUE
There was a slight problem....it was in Philadelphia, 2+ hours away. To my shock, I won the auction with only the minimum bid required $59. So, my daughter and I took off to spend the day in PA.

It was perfect weather! We went to a few museums

So took loads of pictures. We walked all around

Had lunch...and drove home.

What about the "men"...aka, husband & son? They went on their annual Spring outing to the NY International Auto Show. My son met NASCAR driver Joey Logano

He was also able to sit in this NASCAR

I would say that spring break is off to a good start!
