My Kitchen Tour & A Winner

I know most of you already toured my kitchen on Kim's blog. I wanted to publish this on my blog so I could have it as part of the "My Home" page above my header. Sorry for the repeat.

This is the space I will miss the most when we move. For eight years, we saved and dreamed about a renovation. This entire space is new construction on our existing home. We we're able to start from scratch and therefore were not confined to existing walls or plumbing.

When you enter our home, you can see straight back into the kitchen

The round kitchen table is in a half hexagon bay.

I recently bleached the table and painted the chairs....I was getting ready for you :).

Hopefully, I will have a tutorial on that soon. Isn't it funny how the tutorial can take longer than the project...well, not on this one, but it can.

Above the table hangs this wood carved chandelier. I found it on Ebay under "local pick up, only". That is the best way to get the killer deals...if you live close. It was $35.

One of the details I love and will do again, if I have the room, is to recess the refrigerator and freezer. They are tucked back and framed into the space between the hall closet and the kitchen.

We live in our kitchen and watch television in here, the most.

It was suggested to us that we have the seating on the island from an "L". Apparently, it is more conducive to conversation....I just like it.

Another recommendation that I have....if you have the space, is an 18" overhang for leg room.

The island has a hammered stainless steel sink.

I don't know the name of the granite. Unfortunately, around here, stone yards give some materials their own name....so you can't price compare.

The backsplash is a Carrara marble cut in subway and square shapes.

Glass tile that resembles the granite on the island was added above the range.

The countertops are a man made product (I don't know the name). It has chips of marble embedded into it.

My favorite feature is the ceiling.

These are not individual planks. It is a sheet product by Georgia-Pacific. Having 4 x 8 sheets installed by a professional will save you a lot in labor costs. My contractor installed this ceiling, but the design was mine. This entire ceiling went up in two days.

Thank you for letting me show off my kitchen, again.

And now the winner of the copper pot is

Congratulations, Sandy. If you don't know Sandy, she is about to take off on a European extravaganza....could be fun to watch on Instagram.

Thursday, I will be running a post about the One Room Challenge Linking Event. I have received a lot of questions by email and would like to answer them for everyone. Is there anything specific you would like me to cover?

Kitchens - Definitely the Heart of My Home

I have been working on some finishing touches to my kitchen. I realize I have never given you the full tour and I have one coming soon. I love my kitchen and spend most of my time in it.

The number one thing about my home that I will miss the most when we move, is definitely my kitchen. Since it is probably doubtful that I will find a home with my idea of the perfect kitchen, it looks like I will probably have one more kitchen remodel in my future.

The thought of a kitchen remodel makes me really happy. No sarcasm, I love looking at kitchens. I have a few features I am in love with, and made a few mistakes I could live without.

I have an island and definitely love it.

I also have a prep sink in the island and use it more than the big sink.
Dejeau Poage Construction

I did not put in a pot filler at the range. So far, I have never wished I had.

I'm looking forward to showing you my kitchen. I want it documented so I can remember it.

Do you like your kitchen?
