Pinterest Addicts..This is For You

I just found this site called Pinterest You Are Drunk. It is hilarious. Anyone can submit a pin that they think has crossed the line from good taste to good grief..... craft projects gone wrong or just too far. Here are a few that I found on that site. The titles are NOT mine.

Fake Toast. It May Not Be Practical, But At Least You Had Something To Take Your Mind Off The Voices.

Randomness

Are your kids still in school? Mine are, and the requests are getting ridicules. Yesterday, I got the last minute request that my son needed a green shirt (don't have one), and my daughter needed a black one AND a white one for Field Day. Three shirts for two kids on one day. I ran to Kohl's and grabbed all three from the boy's department...they can use them as nightshirts, later.

Later that evening, I TRIED to prepare and label my kids water bottles for Field Day. Six water bottles later.....NOT ONE TOP that actually fit one of the bottom bottles we have. Where are the tops? I ran to Bed  Bath & Beyond and picked up two new water bottles. When I returned home, I threw away ALL THE OTHER BOTTLE PARTS! There, I showed them..... By the way, Field Day was rained out.

Onto far more interesting things....my friend Rebecca, from Older and Wisor, is doing a week long series of gift wrapping with craft paper

I met Rebecca during the 31 day challenge. She did 31 days of gift wrapping. Seriously, you must check it out here.

And speaking of 31 days.....The Nester is recruiting reminding bloggers to start thinking about

It was the hardest....BEST thing I have ever done. I met so many new friends along the way. I'll be doing it again....will you join me?

Danny Seo

I am always in awe of Danny Seo. He is an environmental lifestyle expert, author, and television personality.

He is so creative in his endless search for ways to upcycle objects into beautiful and functional works of art. Here are some of my favorite projects of his. This throw that he made from random scarves loosely stitched together.

Using duck tape to reinforce regular canvas bags and turning them into beautiful indestructible shopping bags

Using newspaper to wrap a bottle of wine

Old raffle tickets to wrap a box

Paint chips for ID tags

Painting an old tray with chalkboard paint

He is a genius. If you are looking for some inspirational crafts, here are his craft videos for Michaels. Now I am feeling a big guilty about throwing some things away.....how about you?

HGTV Dream Home [DIY Style]

Were you one of the many millions who watched the HGTV Dream Home 2012? I missed the actual broadcast, but thankfully it will run endlessly throughout the week. I did manage to watch some of the on-line clips. I also scoured the photo's on the HGTV site. I love the architecture.

I thought it would be fun to review the home as "potential DIY projects". Here is my take on all the ideas that could be replicated.

Starting in the great-room; I am a huge fan of ceiling treatments and this board and batten would not be too difficult

framing four large squares of fabric for a grouping

clustering square coffee tables together to make a large custom size one

adding coffee beans around candles

Line a hallway with lanterns and electric candles. I think this would look great as mis-matched ones as well

Add hooks into the bathroom design

Customize a simple framed mirror

by adding nailheads

Make a custom pet bed

Make candle holders from architectural objects

Paint an American Flag on wood. This would be great using pallet boards!

I think that is enough pinterest projects for now. Did you have a favorite? Would you ever replicate any of them?

Don't Chuck that Holiday Card

Yesterday, I was "tweeting" with Beckie, from Cubicle 57. She was asking the question, "how long do you keep your holiday cards?" Well, If you are a "potential craft project" hoarder saver, like us...as she pointed out to me....the question is really "how many years do you keep your holiday cards?" Thanks for the post inspiration, Gurl!

If at all possible, keep then out of the landfill and repurpose them into one of these many crafty ideas...
