Joseph Eichler was a California real estate developer known for creating mid-century tract housing. The 'Eichler Homes' have become popular again. One real estate company in Northern California gives updated reports on their 'Eichler Home' sales. 

Steve Jobs credited his childhood mid-century home for giving him the inspiration for developing an aesthetic sensibility for modernism. I have a feeling Steve Jobs would have had a similar path had he lived in a basic ranch house.
