Opinions Please

You may remember that I was looking for a vintage Regency piece for my ORC entry?

Well, here she is. I found it on Craigslist...of course. There is a carrera marble top for it that I moved to a safe location. This is where I need your help. I am not sure what color to paint it.

Since the walls will be white, or close to it.....I have an almost unlimited palette to chose from. So I need your help.

Here are some colors that caught my eye.

As you can see, I'm all over the place.
Do any of these colors speak to you? Any other suggestions?

I love that piece and the hardware! Since you have some blue( in those fabulous lanterns) in your dining room assuming it's adjoining the hall, I'd go with a blue high gloss, either navy or deep cobalt blue, with gold hardware ( rubnbuff?) Possibly black for my second choice. Blue and white porcelains would go so nicely on it! Good luck!

I love orange but I would probably go with black so that the piece could move to other rooms if needed. I often go with the "safe" choice.

What a great piece, just dying for a make-over. I am with Nancy, blue or black....but then the red....hmmm, now I too am all over the board. Not much help am I?

I love the blue of that smaller cabinet. I think it would look great with your rug.

i would go with black or blue. Beautiful piece!

Will you be able to see the piece while you are in the rooms off of your entry way? If so I feel that the color you pick should complement the colors in the rooms off on your entry way.

I can't wait to see what color you pick. Happy Friday!!!

how about black with the inner detail section gold leaf (like in the green one you show). that way you'll see the hardware still. Can't wait to see the finished product!

Navy would tie in really nicely with your dining room. But I also am so very attracted to that red piece. Either would look amazing. What rug will you have in the hall? Maybe pull a color from that?

I love the black! So dressy and always "in"!

Tough! I'd pick something bold and daring vs black, the red is fabulous!

I think the black or navy would be stunning with the carrara marble top!

i def say go BOLD and make it a statement piece - and girl SCORE once again - u are the CL queen!

I thought you didnt like red? I feel like being different so I'm going with green and gold accents. Truthfully I really like the navy or black also.

StagerLinda said...

How about the 'soft' blue that is an accent color in your dining room rug? Since the piece will be low to the floor and is in the view from the foyer, it would make a nice transition color and tie the two rooms together.

I have always loved the cobalt blue of that second piece (that might be from Kate Spade's apartment?). So, if you go colorful, that gets my vote. Oh, and brass up that hardware of course. I actually kind of like the faux burl on the front of the cabinet. Burl and black looks so sophisticated to me. You could paint the case black and leave the cabinet fronts the natural burl tone (only if it looks really good in person, as it seems to in the photos). Does that make sense?

I love the first one. The one that is a bright blue/purple. The color is so rich!

I'm all over blue lately! Like a classic Navy? I feel like Emerald is pretty but next year will be soooo 2013.

ohhh such a hard choice- but after I looked at pics of the rest of your house I settled on these top choices: black, a minty green like you bedroom malms, a nice classic navy blue, or an every so slightly light light sky blue. All with a super fab gold mirror over it- or something gold on top :)

Oooh that's an awesome Piece!! Great score. I personally like the Black with gold accents. Classic. You can use bold colours in all your accessories but this piece is big! Painting it is no joke.

Linda my first thought was gray, but I'm kinda boring like that. A marble top? So cool! Can't wait to see what you decide :)

Fletcher @ High Cotton Style said...

I'm loving the blue! I do think that gray would be pretty as well!

I can see that you have some blues and blacks in your dining room so with that being said I would go with the emerald and place a pair of ginger jar lamps in blue and white on top! Love the mix of blue and greens with touches of black and white. My favorite combinations and one which I am using in my family room.

Great piece....I would love to see it in black or blue....any color of blue! What color is the marble? That would be something to take into consideration. If the top is white with gray veins go either color...it there is a lot of black veins than go black.

I love the cobalt blue, too. but I also love the orangey-red console from Little Green Notebook. I think I like the blue better.

Oh, you have such good finding capabilities!! I am still on the hunt for GORGEOUS, CHEAP chandeliers ... a MATCH!! Oh yes, back to you! ... I vote a really strong blue or black ... or any other color that is STRONG ... no pastels or wimpy colors please!! I know you will rock it! xo

Ashley @ The Houston House said...

I agree :) Kim you need to make a trip to ATLANTA and hit up the Ballard outlet.. I was just there yesterday, tons of steals on chandeliers!

I say very, very dark navy or black. Can't wait to see it. - Brandy

I love the black and gold...and then you can easily move it anywhere else in the house and it will match! its a classic

Lisa @ Trapped In North Jersey said...

omg, that cobalt blue...although I will admit that I am in a cobalt blue phase myself, so that might not be your choice. Is there a rug in the foyer? If yes, pull from that?

Vel Criste said...

I love the cobalt blue Linda, but with the marble, I would go with BLACK!!!! Good luck with your decision dear!

Junell said...

Go bold or go home! Oh that's right it is your home.... I def say lacquer that sweet baby up a groovy emerald green! Great score on the credenza!

Carol in Denver said...

I would hate for that luscious burl wood in the center of the panels to be painted over. Their yellow-tone wood might be complimented with aqua on the frame.

Sadie + Stella said...

OMG. Cobalt with the gold trim. I am dying. Do not keep this wood color. You will be so sorry.

Amal -- Sybaritic Spaces said...

Hey Linda! So excited to see what you do with your entryway. Am loving that cobalt blue number at the top. But how about a dark teal like this with gold hardware http://danishmodernla.com/Vintage_Teal_Lacquered_Dresser.html. Whatever it is, lacquer the heck out of it! And oversized round gold hardware.
Alternatively, you could whitewash it for a whole different look -- could be interesting. xo

The Pink Pagoda said...

Love the idea of almost black!

Joann Borden said...

The cobalt is stunning! A beautiful navy would be nice, too. How are you going to decide? Maybe some fabric or something with the color on it to test it.

Danylle McLain said...

What a great find! I love the idea of the Cobalt with a marble top. If you tire of it you can always paint it again. Black would be my second choice.

How fun! Can't wait to see what you decide to do.

barbara@hodge:podge said...

Blue or emerald green!

jeanine said...

That's a tough one. I really like the dark blue and the red colors and either would look nice with a marble top. I also like the walnut burl veneer inside the panels though it kind of looks like there is a water stain at the bottom. I can't wait to see what color you finally decide to use!

Jessie said...

Great find, Linda. I would suggest suggest cobalt blue or emerald green. By the way, the navy blue chest is from Kate Spade's home!
