Who Wants to Paint a Rug?

I have an idea....famous words that always lead to mayhem. September is just around the corner and the kids will be back in school...so let's celebrate with a group project.

I have been dying (no pun intended) to paint a rug and I know that some of you have, too. Maybe something like this one
Via Design Sponge
Or, this one
Pudel-design
This is what I am thinking; my crafty creative friends live in blogland....not in New Jersey. Although New Jersey has some amazingly creative people...I just don't know them. Anyone who wants to tackle a rug painting project...blog or not...leave a comment or e-mail me. I will compile a list of rug rats (sorry, I had to say it) and we will start in September. I would guess it will take three weeks.

Go ahead, walk around your place and think about how you could use one of these

Now this is BIG! Like Kim I don't think I have a space to undertake this project. But....I will take great care to read every word and store it in my sill head. Never know when the "Epiphany" will hit me to do this in a perfect place! Let the fun begin....

You know Ive dyed a rug before, but never "painted" one. I don't think I have a need for one at the moment ( operative word) so I will pass, but I am looking forward to the results! On my list now is to paint a few walls....

Sounds fun. My daughter's fabulous apartment is to be repainted in the next week or so, and we are going to do some redecorating. This might be something for me to do for her place. I have an interesting idea in mind. Looking forward to hearing more details.

My daughter has a white IKEA rug in her hang out room that could be painted. I'll be thinking about this. It could be fun, or with my skills, a giant disaster!

Oh, you know I'm in. I can think of a few places I need a rug.

Ooh! I have a black jute rug in the basement waiting to be painted! Count me in.

(And yes, I'm singing... Hey, I just met you. And this is crazy, but here's my no., so call me maybe!)

Hmmm I don't have a derelict or plain rug around here, and it's true that I don't have a "need" for one exactly... so maybe I should pass even though those pics you posted make me think FUN YAY! and YES I CAN. I'll be following you and the others. Pom Poms at the ready.

I'll pass on this one Linda, I am into spray-painting different objects right now but not yet ready for a rug. will wait what you gals come up with. Love all the inspiration though. ;-)

Hmmmm. I am still thinking. It will have to be a small one that I can paint tabletop. I am too freakin' old to be on my hands and knees for hours painting. That's why they have easels :)

I have been wanting to do this for months! I want to paint a rug for my entryway but have been unable to find a white 3 x 8 rug to do it.

Love the inspirational images. I created a painted rug about 2 years ago for my patio and it has held up great!

Linda, Sounds like a great idea. I've been so busy at the shop though that I don't even have time to blog. Been spending an hour in the morning and night trying to "sophisticate" my teen daughter's room while she's been at camp this week. I always wanted to paint a floor cloth though, but never have the time. will be watching on the sidelines wishing I could do it.

Just the motivation I needed, Linda! No 'maybe' here, I'm a definite yes!

I've been dying to paint one too!! At the moment I don't have a rug to paint though...I'd love to watch you and other crafty ladies tackle it though!!

Hi,
you can count me in - depends on how messy this is whether you ever end up seeing the finished product. Maybe it will end up as the new half perferct and half splattered looks . I hope you have some tips coming becuase I think I will be needing them.
BTW I love your One room challenge.

I'm in! Although I might just do a small rug because I have puppies and I would probably cry if one of them has an accident on a huge rug I spent forever painting.
